Work, Pleasure & Money

March 30, 2007

Charles Baudelaire has always been one of my favorite poets. He wrote Les Fleurs de Mal (Flowers of Evil) in 1857:

“We are weighed down, every moment, by the conception and the sensation of Time. And there are but two means of escaping and forgetting this nightmare: pleasure and work. Pleasure consumes us. Work strengthens us. Let us choose.”

Then I read a post on LinkedIn, arguing that money is energy. Hmm – money is nothing but a currency to enable global trade: x for y.

But I do agree on pleasure and work. It’s life.
